Person-centred Therapy
Person-centred therapy sits at the heart of how I work as an integrative counsellor.
It offers a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is going on for you, at a pace that feels right.
Because this approach is grounded in empathy, trust, and authentic human connection, it can be experienced effectively across different therapy settings, including online counselling.
What is Person-centred Therapy?
Person-centred therapy is based on the belief that you already have the capacity for growth, insight, and change.
The approach was originally developed by Carl Rogers and focuses on empathy, acceptance, and genuine human connection.
Key principles include:
- Empathy and deep listening
- Acceptance without judgement
- Respect for autonomy
- Collaborative therapeutic relationship
How I Use Person-Centred Therapy in My Work
In practice, this means I focus on understanding your experience as fully as possible, rather than trying to fix or change you.
I work collaboratively, supporting emotional safety and trust, which are key signals for meaningful therapeutic change.
What This Might Look Like in a Session
You might come to therapy feeling emotionally drained in a relationship.
Using a person-centred approach, we may explore relationship patterns, self-doubt, and emotional needs.
Person-Centred Therapy May Be Helpful If You:
- Feel unheard or misunderstood
- Experience self-doubt
- Want a supportive therapy space
- Are new to counselling
Person-Centred Therapy Within Integrative Counselling
Person-centred therapy forms the foundation of my integrative counselling approach, alongside CBT and psychodynamic therapy.
